"During late 1976 and early 1977 I did my military service with the Swedish Army. During that time we put together a full blown Group 2 Saab V4 engine: Dual Weber carbs and dual exhaust ports on each head. Engine size was 1815cc (up from stock 1700cc). The first rally with that engine was Kinds-Kannan in 1977. It had a lot of power."
"Unfortunately rust got to the green 96, so during the late part of 1977 and early 1978 we built a new shell, a blue one. This 96 ran alright a we did get a couple of good results with this SAAB. This event was from the karlstad area in the winter. We ran at that time on 'Super narrow' Dunlop tires. That was the ticket back then if you had a SAAB."
1979 - "The blue 96 came to an abrupt end during 'Bergslagsrallyt" in 1979. On the longest rally stage in Sweden we crashed, and that car had seen enough of rallying. A few months later we built another 96 and ran that one for another year."
